Battle Scars

Guadalupe Island

Great White Shark

Often times Great Whites will have scars along their heads and bodies. The scars can be caused from other Great Whites in a fight for food or mates, or can be caused by their prey fighting back. During mating male sharks will bite the head, flank, or pectoral fins of the female which causes much of the scarring in the females.
